Boston Book Festival and The Rainbow Pants

Boston book festivalI am honored to be one of  the hundreds of authors to be at the Boston Book Festival this weekend. So many genres will be represented. As an author you love to people watch, after all you never know if you might be in someone’s next book. I especially like to meet other authors, especially new unpublished writers. Hear what you are working on, what makes you nervous to “send in your story” or just your “fears of rejection”. Trust me we all have them. If you re not rejected at least a hundred times than you are not a true writer. I hope if you are in the Boston area this Saturday, you can swing over to see little ol’ me and say “hi”. Take a peek inside “The Rainbow Pants” maybe it will give you the encouragement to start to write your own story!!

Spring time Showers bring Summer time Rainbows

rain

Is your spring a bit wet? Here in Maine we have seen our fair share of rain. One of my most asked questions, when I do a book reading at a school is: “What about blue?” If you have read The Rainbow Pants, you know that Peter chooses his pants based on his feelings. I leave out certain colors so that the reader can answer that blue and purple (or indigo) question. I think with all of our rain today I would wear blue in honor of our spring raindrops. But always remember without rain we couldn’t have Rainbows!!! So let the water fall on your face and answer back with a “rainbow smile”.

Happy Thanksgiving from The Rainbow Pants!!

thanksgiving

The delicious aroma of homemade rolls, turkey and yummy pies fill our home, as we get ready for a very Happy Thanksgiving. We take a moment to be grateful for all that we have; including our health, family, and our fabulous memories of 2013.

I would like to say a huge Thank you to my amazing illustrator Lindsay Weirich aka The Frugal Crafter, who gave color and vision to The Rainbow Pants.

Thank you to all of the people who have supported The Rainbow Pants, by purchasing a book, attending events, and/or writing to me and telling me your favorite color pants.

My final Thank you is to the kids who have read, The Rainbow Pants, and have added to their book list.

I wish all of you a peaceful and wonderful Thanksgiving.

Maine Lighthouse Museum Book Signing and a Sweet Antique Yellow Car

maine lighthouse signing

There is something to be said about entering a building and feeling like you walked back in time. Museum’s always bring me that feeling. I get lost in different decades and what people had to do just to survive. The rustiest piece of equipment, or burnt out lighthouse light are screaming to tell its story. I was honored to spend the day at The Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland on Saturday. I shared the day with 10 other incredibly talented Maine authors at a book signing event.  I was lucky enough (you can see in the photo above) to sit by a sweet yellow car.  Now I am not a car person so I could not tell you what kind of car this was, but I can tell you it was beautiful!!!

Saturday was Open Lighthouse day, many of our amazing lighthouses were open to the public. If anyone has a chance, take a step inside a lighthouse and listen to its story. I bet you will hear drama, mystery, romance and comedy all wrapped around that beacon of light that has always protected us  in the stormiest of seas.

When you visit the Maine Lighthouse Museum check out their amazing gift shop, they have added a bit of a “rainbow” to their shelves. You can now get your copy of The Rainbow Pants. : “Happy Yellow Pants” are worn today!!!
